ak skill install

Install or refresh the per-skill runtime env

Synopsis

What it does: Read the skill's runtime: block and create or refresh the per-skill env at ~/.agentkit/skills/<kit>/<skill>/, with the package cache shared at ~/.agentkit/cache/<runtime-hash>/. Idempotent.

Who it's for: Power devs, kit authors, CI provisioning.

When to use it: After cloning the repo or after editing skill.yaml's runtime block (use ak skill upgrade instead when only the constraint string changed).

Examples: ak skill install marketing/youtube ak skill install engineer/web-testing --kits-dir kits/

What changes on disk: Writes to ~/.agentkit/skills/<kit>/<skill>/.manifest.json and ~/.agentkit/cache/<runtime-hash>/ (venv or node_modules).

Output modes: pretty default on TTY (colors, ASCII markers) plain auto when stdout piped or --no-interactive json --json (single-object envelope, NDJSON-safe)

Exit codes: 0 success 1 runtime error 2 invalid flags 3 user-cancel (SIGINT, prompt-cancel) 4 missing tool (uv / pnpm) or skill has no runtime block 5 kit or skill not found

ak skill install <kit>/<skill> [flags]
